Done Spain, Italy, France and even England.
We don’t do Kiss me Quick resorts.
We hate crowded beaches and All Day Full English Breakfasts.
We wanted to go somewhere different, hot, close by (within 3 Hours) and unspoilt.
So what about a trip to Morocco the wife said. I had never considered it to be honest. My first thoughts would be the flights are too expensive, we will get hassled all the time, what about the language problems and it’s not safe.
I did my due diligence and was surprised at what I found:
- Lots of cheap flights – with Easyjet, Ryanair and Thompson going direct to Marrakesh and Agadir
- You pretty much get left alone
- Everybody speaks French as we ll as Arabic and most speak good english too!
- It’s very safe and crime on tourists are very low
- Climate is very nice – sunny nearly all the time
We booked a cheap package holiday to Agadir with Thomas Cook and off we went!
Needless to say, we had an experience of a lifetime, met some amazing people, saw some stunning sights and fell in love with this beautiful and unusual country.
Our 7 night package showed us a little but we wanted more – we took a 2 day trip to Marrakesh – driving through some of the most beautiful and unspoilt countryside imaginable, with some pretty wild and unspoilt towns along the route, teaming with activity, noise and smells of North Africa. Then in Marrakesh, the hustle and bustle of a vibrant city, with incredible night activity in the Squares and the maze of shops in the Souk.
The Rest is history. We loved it so much, we bought a beach front villa, called Villa Ramalah, which is now completely renovated and decorated in traditional Moroccan style and we are offering it to families to rent so they too can discover this magical country.
The villa is in Aourir, a small village 10km north of Agadir. The village is very traditional and unspoilt. We have made many friends in the local community and have been made very welcome by them, sharing tea and hammams with them (a cross between a steam room and a massage room).
Why not take a look at our website to discover more about the villa and find out how to book.
