What a fab day we had on Saturday at the Madejski Stadium in Reading, courtesy of Paul Hopwood of Newbury Sound. I won the tickets last week whilst listening to Paul. The last time I had been to a big rugby match was Twickenham Varsity matches when I was at school – quite a while ago – so me and the Wife, Karen of Curve Solutions, the local internet and social media marketing specialists, arranged a lift and off we went!
Thankfully we arrived early as the place was soon heaving – with massive queues at the bar – but we managed to get a few drinks in and grab a good seat at the South Stand right behind the posts and sat back to soak up the atmosphere.
The great thing about rugby is that everybody, regardless of teams etc, all just want to have a good laugh. We were sandwiched between a bunch of guys from Exeter Chief and London Irish supporters who just wanted to out shout each other, waving flags and just having a good time – we were pretty agnostic, however London Irish are the local team so we went along with that. All I wanted to see was some good rugby and have a few drinks and a laugh with the wife – and we surly did get just that.
From the first kick, it was action all the way, with London Irish scoring in the first few seconds…it then just got better!
The only criticism I have is that the bars are too small, the staff are too slow and disorganised, so the queues were massive all the time – not good if you want to enjoy the game as well as have a few beers.
With the final score of London Irish 39 Exeter 17, it was a great game with loads of action – the guys from Exeter did make a good show, but the Irish just outclassed them.
Anyway, I forgot my camera and just had the mobile phone, I did get a few shots but they are not the normal standard, but a good reminder of a great day. Many Thanks Newbury Sound We enjoyed it very much!
Whilst we didn’t see any leprechaun’s, old habits die hard and I could not fail to see a small rat problem as we left the grounds…even whilst on a day out, pest controllers always keep an eye out for pest problems! If you think you have a rat problem, call Rapid Pest Control now on Newbury 01635 247192.
