Skateboarding

Skateboarding and surfing go hand in hand, so wherever you have a lot of surfers, you are sure to find a group of skaters too.

Agadir has a very active skating community, so everywhere you look you will see people on skateboards.

One of the best skateparks around is in Taghazout. Situated high above the village, you not only have a fantastic skate area, you also benefit from the amazing views right across the bay. The park is run by a local association and there are boards to try and hire with somebody always on-site to help.

There are a few more skate spots just opened, one in Anza on the corniche and one in the new Taghazout bay development. Also close by is a really nice area right beside the beach which Longboarders use to practice – the surface is super smooth and makes practicing dance and freestyle moves easy.

The Agadir Commune has recently banned skateboards for the corniche in Agadir, which is a real shame as this is a great place to cruise. There are however lots of really good roads little used by cars and big empty car park areas all over the city.

If you venture further afield, you will come across excellent roads in the middle of nowhere so you can just park up and freestyle.

Our favorite skate shop is Tamara Skate Shop in the Cite el Massira – close to Souk el Had. Ali and the team are really helpful and have many boards to suit all styles, as well as a full range of shoes and clothing.

If you fancy trying to skate, there are a few groups in the area who can help you – get a lesson and see how you get on with it.
