Surfing in Morocco

With 2,500km of Atlantic coast, mild weather and good water temperatures all year round, Morocco is referred to as the Surfers paradise. From beginners to experts, the surf is suitable for all levels of expertise and provides sport for all.

Surfing season spans from November through to April, but the surf is available all year round. The region between Agadir and Taghazout is famous across the world, drawing in people from all over Europe as well as further afield including Australia.

The World Surfing Championships were held in Taghazout recently again confirming that Morocco is the place to surf. Morocco’s weather offers 300 days of sunshine and warm temperatures which allow you to stay out longer to enjoy the surf.

The coastline is varied and many “Surfaris” are organised to show different Point and Beach breaks up and down the coast, meaning you can surf in different conditions every day of your holiday.

There are many surf camps who boast expert tuition, excellent equipment for hire and all advice you need to make your holiday enjoyable – all at very reasonable costs. A typical Board hire and wetsuit costs around £20 per day, including some tuition.

We recommend Salty Goats Camp in Tamraght. The accommodation is excellent, the food amazing and the owners Omar and Andrea are brilliant hosts and incredible surf coaches

Not only do you have the ultimate in Surfing sports, there is also the culture and people of Morocco – friendly and full of traditions. After a great day in the surf, why not relax in one of the many restaurants and cafes along the coastal road, or enjoy a barbecue on the beach.

What could be better!
